Escritora neozelandesa de novelas policiales. Dedicada en un principio a la pintura, más tarde actuó y produjo obras del repertorio shakesperiano (1938–64). Es conocida por sus historias de misterio protagonizadas por el inspector Roderick Alleyn de Scotland Yard. Con novelas como
